Certified Environmental Health & Safety Professional (CEHSP) Requirements
The Certified Environmental Health & Safety Professional (CEHSP) is the highest the International Association of Safety, Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) professional credential.
This professional credential is designed for individuals looking to enter the field of occupational safety, health and environmental and for whom a top professional credential contributes to career advancement and professional recognition. The program focuses on employee’s rights, employer’s responsibility, and hazard recognition with regards to occupational safety, health and the environment. Because the fields of safety, health and environment are different at every jobsite the Certified Environmental Health & Safety Professional (CEHSP) professional credential allows for flexibility in both the required and elective courses.
Depending on whether a certificate participant is seeking a career in Construction, General Industry, or the environmental field, Safety, Health and Environmental, students are required to choose from either track. These courses extensively review both federal and state occupational safety, health and environmental standards a safety, health or environmental professional needs to be familiar within the performance of their duties.
Certified Environmental Health & Safety Professional (CEHSP) Requirements
To earn the Certified Environmental Health & Safety Professional (CEHSP) credential, the individual will have to successfully complete ten required courses. At least six of the courses must be completed through the International Association of Safety, Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP). All courses must be completed within a 5-year period. Courses taken through other official OSHA Training Education Centers can be used to fulfill up to four courses required for the Certified Environmental Health & Safety Professional (CEHSP) Professional credential.

IASHEP Certified Accident Investigation Specialist (CAIS) Introduction to Incident/Accident Investigation
IASHEP Certified HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training Specialist (CHTS)
IASHEP Certified OSHA Fall Protection Specialist (CFPS)
Other Requirements:
· You must join and be a member of good standing in IASHEP Annual membership fees are $100.00. With this grandfather, IASHEP is granting you your first-year membership for free. After the first year it is $100.00 per year.
· No degree you must have at least 8 years of work-related experience where 30% of your job duties are required to manage safety, health, or environmental responsibilities.
PHD, Masters, or Bachler’s or Associates & 4 years of work-related experience where 30% of your job duties are required to manage safety, health or environmental responsibilities.

International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) is offering new alliance agreements with colleges, universities, government agencies and private training organizations throughout the United States and around the world to offer our accredited professional and certified safety, health & environmental educational programs.
The International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner will be accredited to offer the classroom versions of all IASHEP Advanced, Specialist and Technician level safety, health & environmental educational courses for which they show that they have the expertise to teach the subject in. Should one of our International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partners do not have the required knowledge in the subject, a certified International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized / Certified Trainer will be assigned to work with you until you are qualified to teach our curriculum.
The International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner will also be able to utilize their own expertise and resources to develop specific curriculum and training materials applicable to local industry and workplace scenarios. The curriculum should address general safety, health, environmental and hazard recognition and avoidance.
Many courses in other countries are site specific related courses to that geographical area of the globe and may not usually be offered by the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP). If this is the case the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) will work with the Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner in their areas of expertise and the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner receive a certificate for their students once IASHEP reviews and approves the curriculum.
An International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner may represent themselves as being part of the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center which includes the use of the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner name and logo on their websites or other advertisements. The International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner will be included on the Official International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner Website.
Upon request from students in a specific geographical area, the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) will recommend the nearest International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Learning Center / Alliance Partner for that student or client to contact to teach the specific subject to which they are qualified to teach. This is accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI/ASSP Z490.1) .

The International Association of Environmental, Health and Safety Professionals (IASHEP) believes that if you have taken a course somewhere else, but you did not get a professional certificate or professional credential, you can challenge the IASHEP professional credentialed course. You must request IASHEP to challenge the course by filling out this course challenge document and paying your fees. The fees for course challenging is $2500.00 for IASHEP Highest Professional Credential CEHSP, $1500.00 CSHET (IASHEP Second highest professional credential, $595.00 for an Advanced Certified Level course, $495.00 for an IASHEP Certified Specialist course and $295.00 for an IASHEP Certified Technician level course.
The IASHEP Certified Environmental, Health & Safety Professional (CESHP) credential can be challenged for $2500.00 Normally this certification is listed for $5495.00. The following stipulations apply:
1 You Will have 10 years of work experience with a minimum 35% of job tasks related to the safety, health or environmental management of safety related programs, procedures, and / or personnel.
2 Will have a minimum of a PHD and three (3) years of safety experience where safety is at least 50%, preventative, professional level with breadth and depth of safety duties.
3. Will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and will have four (4) years of safety experience where safety, health or environmental is at least 50%, preventative, professional level with breadth and depth of safety duties.
4. Will have a minimum of an Associates, degree and will have five (5) years of safety, health or environmental experience where safety, health or environmental is at least 50%, preventative, professional level with breadth and depth of safety duties.
IASHEP membership will not receive the normal 10% discount for course challenging opportunities.
Testing:
You must take a proctored and timed open book examination and you must pass the written test with an 80% or better to receive your professional credential. You have three chances to pass the examination. Should you fail to pass the course challenge test, you must then take the classroom version of the course. Failure to pass the IASHEP professional proctored examination will result in your fees being non-refunded. There is an additional fee of $100.00 for each additional certification test retake.

With onsite training, IASHEP brings our certified instructors and accredited courses to your facility. This allows you to save travel costs, as well as train an entire group at a time.
We can teach to your schedule, which is helpful for companies who have workers on multiple shifts. We can also break up our classes into sections to minimize the time your employees are away from their tasks.
For classes needing hands-on activities, we can use your equipment and help plan scenarios using your facilities. Also, onsite classes are often shorter in duration than our scheduled classes because we can cover just the portions of the class that your facility needs.
At the present time in order to continue to protect the well-being of the worlds workforce, the International Assoc. of Safety Health Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) delivers Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) to provide training on occupational safety, health or environmental subjects in a manner other than in-person.
The International Assoc. of Safety Health Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Virtual Classroom Training brings the classroom learning experience to you. International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Trainer Opportunities:
The International Assoc. of Safety Health Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Outreach Training Program permits occupational safety and health professionals to become authorized as trainers and conduct training for workers in locations worldwide. Through this program, the International Association of Safety Health Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Trainer conduct Introductory and IASHEP Technician level one (1) to three (3) day level classes for workers based on construction safety, general industry safety healthcare and other industries such as but not limited to longshoring, maritime, food processing etc.
Note: Although considered a "Authorized / Certified Trainer" you will not be able to issue "Certified Courses" unless they are taught through an IASHEP Authorized Training Center) or through the International Assoc. of Safety Health Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) as one of our Authorized / Certified Trainers under a individual contract between yourself and IASHEP.
If are are qualified to teach a specific course, you will be authorized to issue course completion certificates through IASHEP for a small cost per student.
Private Companies and Government Agencies can become an International Assoc. of Safety Health Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Training Center by applying to the International Assoc. of Safety Health Environmental Professionals (IASHEP).
When you become an IASHEP Certified Instructor (IASHEP-CI), if you want to teach IASHEP 4-32 hour level courses, and have your workers or clients who want to receive an IASHEP course completion certificate from your own company, this is possible. The cost for the course completion certificate will be $35.00 per student.
To become an IASHEP Certified Trainer:
Complete a Trainer Course
In order to become a an individual must complete a trainer course based on the criteria listed below:
1. You must be a member of IASHEP and be a member in good standing.
2. The individual must submit an International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) application to the IASHEP Board of Directors for approval and provide appropriate documentation of experience including a detailed resume or job history, and professional references.
3. You must demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of experience within a construction safety position or general safety position. One year of experience may be waived if the individual has earned a degree in a related field (associates level or above) from an accredited academic institution.
4. An individual must complete the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Train the Trainer Course as described in options (a) & (b) below.
Option (a) In order to become a International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Certified Trainer, an individual may complete a International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Certified Trainer (IASHEP-(CI) course offered through an International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Authorized Training Center.
Option (b) An individual may complete the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Certified Trainer (IASHEP-(CI) course offered online.
MAINTAIN TRAIN THE TRAINER AUTHORIZATION BY COMPLETING AN UPDATE COURSE OR MAINTAINING (CEU's)
The International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) Certified Trainer (IASHEP-(CI) authorization is valid for three years. You must recertify your professional credential by following the information according to the International Association of Safety Health & Environmental Professionals (IASHEP) recertification handbook that is found on the IASHEP website located at www.iashep.org. Note: There is no grace period for renewal beyond the three -year time frame.
