Course Description

The Certified Safety Health Specialist - General Industry (CSHS-GI) certification is an advanced occupational safety training program designed for safety professionals, supervisors, managers, compliance officers, and individuals seeking comprehensive knowledge of OSHA General Industry Standards (29 CFR 1910). This intensive four-day course provides participants with the practical skills and regulatory expertise needed to identify workplace hazards, implement effective safety programs, and maintain OSHA compliance across a wide range of general industry environments.

The curriculum focuses on OSHA 29 CFR 1910 regulations and emphasizes hazard recognition, risk assessment, accident prevention, and workplace safety management. Participants will study critical safety topics including machine guarding, electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), walking-working surfaces, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, fire prevention, confined spaces, emergency action planning, powered industrial trucks, and incident investigation techniques. Real-world examples and practical applications help students confidently apply OSHA standards in manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, utilities, healthcare organizations, maintenance operations, and other industrial workplaces.

The Certified Safety Health Specialist - General Industry (CSHS-GI) course also serves as the required prerequisite for professionals pursuing the IASHEP General Industry Train the Trainer (IASHEP 502) authorization. After successfully completing both the IASHEP 115 and IASHEP 502 courses, participants become eligible to deliver IASHEP 10-Hour and 30-Hour General Industry safety training and issue IASHEP course completion cards recognized internationally.
